Manhattan Privacy Door Lever Set 4.6 5 7 11
full 90 degree lever turn required to unlock the lever is of good quality and it has an excellent look. After installing it, however, we discovered that one has to turn the lever down completely (from horizontal to vertical, 90 degree angle) to unlock the door. We called the manufacturer and they confirmed that this is how this particular lever is designed to work. We find this large angle unnatural and we decided not to use this lever. For others this issue may be completely irrelevant, but we thought it should be reported in the technical specifications. We could not find this information anywhere before buying. February 18, 2011
Wonderul Handles for Price Point Just built a home and replaced the builder-installed handles (same price point as Schlage, but felt cheap - wobbly, uncomfortabel in hand, etc.) with the Manhattan suite of handles from Schlage. These are superior handles for the price - we used them for all our door and lock needs - front door, deadbolts, privacy, keyed entry and passage handles. They are heavy in your hand, solid, comfortable (and we have VERY heavy exterior doors) do not wobble or jiggle, and are well-built. They look great - our home is concrete and steel, and these fit the contemporary style while softening the look nicely with their beautiful curve - contemporary without looking industrial or commercial. We even got complements from the builder once he saw them. We looked at handles that were three and four times the price, but you cannot beat this solid, well-built Manhattan suite of products. We LOVE them! February 3, 2011
Great Deal Handlesets.com was having a sale on Schlage door handles and I was able to get a great deal on the Manhattan Series. Each handle was at least $3 cheaper then other online stores and half the price of big-box stores. Got my order quickly and I'm very happy with them. November 20, 2010
style and quality The lever came quickly w/o any issues. This lever represents schlage quality and sleek modern styling one wont find at the big box retailers, especially the chrome finish I had purchased. May 27, 2010
I have bought my second set of handles for my parents-my mom has bad arthritis and this will definitely help. My parents were thrilled with them for Christmas. I will continue to buy them as the time comes. January 16, 2010
excellent quality Easy to install, lovely to look at, and excellent quality. Only caveat is that you can go outside w/o unlocking the handle, and therefore, be locked out. December 9, 2008
great handles this is a terrific website that offers great products, super low prices and excellent customer service! These handles are wonderful and fit in with my modern decor!!! Great job!!! November 6, 2008

Does this handle require 90 degree turn for regular opening? There's a posting above stating it for unlocking but not sure about regular opening

The Schlage F40-MNH does require a 90 degree turn to open regularly.

Does this lock have a button (vs a twist lock) to lock that automatically unlocks when you turn the knob?

The Schlage F40-MNH is a panic proof knob which means that it will unlock from the interior when you go to open the door.

What is the width of the handle?

The Schlage F40-MNH handle rose is 2-3/4 inches height, the protrusion from the escutcheon to the outside of the handle is 2-7/16 inch and the length of the handle is 4-9/16 inch.

Just want to make sure, I need the handle to be towards the right side, so as not to interfere with the door jamb.

The direction the handle faces is determined by the handing of your door. This handleset is reversible and can be mounted on either a right handed or left handed door.

I like this handle, but I wonder if it might look too "industrial". Is it suitable for a residential contemporary decor?

The Schlage F40-MNH is actually made for residential use, that would look fine in a contemporary decor, Thanks

Why don't we show the price?

Like many retailers, Build.com can choose to set its own prices independently. And even though manufacturers require Build.com and other retailers to display a product's "minimum advertised price" (or MAP), the retailer can choose to sell for less than that. But the price must be conveyed in other ways, and each individual manufacturer's MAP policy determines where the price can be seen.

To see the price for this product at Build.com, you'll need to place it in your shopping cart, and maybe even proceed to final checkout. If you're not ready to buy the product, simply remove it from the cart.

Build.com apologizes for any inconvenience. We'd just like to offer you the chance to save extra money while we adhere to manufacturers' MAP policies. Build.com is also working to educate manufacturers on how their policies impact customers and their buying behavior.
