Is the bottom of # 8037 open or closed ? Is a special outdoor lightbulb needed ?

The bottom of the Sea Gull Lighting 8037 is open. A special bulb is not necessary, a standard clear bulb is recommended.

What size is the backplate on Sea Gull 8037?

The Sea Gull 8037 backplate is 5-1/2” high and 4-3/4” wide.

What metal is this made of?

The Sea Gull Lighting 8037 is made of solid brass.
