Maybe I am missing something in the ad, but what kind of fuel does it burn?

The Uniflame GWT801B uses a disposable liquid propane gas tank which is not included. Please let us know if you have other questions.

can I use a 20 lb bottle with adapter hose?

The Uniflame GWT801B is able to be used with a 20 lb bottle with an adapter hose. You will need to purchase an extension hose from your local hardware store in order to make this work.
