Does this unit require a water line?

The Whynter UIM-155 requires a water line be attached to it. It comes with a 25 foot 1/4" food grade water line.

Is the door reversible?

The Whynter UIM-155 does have a reversible door.

What is the fail safe in case the unit malfunctions and no ice is produced but water keeps going to it, will there be a flood?

According to the manufacturer, there is a fail switch in the item when ice is made to trip the float in the mechanism to shut off water to keep from a continuous flow going through the unit.

What is the size of the unit?

The Whynter UIM-155 is 15" Wide x 25" High x 18" Deep.
