Great for first 4 months This vent hood was great for the first four months. It is very attractive, at a quarter of the price of other vent hoods like it. However, that being said, I guess you get what you pay for. The fan works great. The lights don't. They started going out, one at a time. Now, neither one works. If you just want an attractive hood with a fan, this will work for you. If you want light over your cooking surface, look elsewhere. December 7, 2010
Very Powerful Fan Looks very good and really draws well. It can even help move the air on a hot day. We had to learn about cleaning the stainless steel with the grain of the steel or it streaks. Only complaint is that the powerful fan is loud so it is a hassle in a household of older hard of hearing folks. But we would buy it again for another kitchen with a gas stove. August 23, 2010
An amazing find! I bought this hood for our new house and it's gorgeous. Our builder thought it cost at least $1000 and is going to start using this site for his vents. Luckily I bought when there was a big sale, so I really scored. Even so, this is a great find for a small wall-mounted hood. Yes, it is a little noisier than some, but I'd rather save tons and hear a little noise (sounds similar to a bathroom fan, I'd say). Highly recommend! June 28, 2010
Looks good, works good. I did some shopping around to find a range hood that looked expensive and had the power I needed at a low price. Venting Direct had the cheapest price (I did a lot of shopping) and it shipped right away and arrived without issue. Good service, great price. The vent has multiple power settings, a nice frosted halogen lighting system and a telescopic top so it can adjust to the height you need. I've only been using it for a month, but so far it does the job I need it to do and the price was right. I am going to get some wooden trim at the top, if I get bored, I'll upload a pict some day. Outstanding product!! This product delivers in all areas. Build quality, finish, performance, price, everything. The lights are excellent, the volume of air it moves is outstanding. I was looking for a product that would enhance my Viking Professional rangetop and this was it! No visible seams, superior stainless finish, very strong mounting brackets, solid switches, All of this comes at a price that is significantly lower than the competition for this CFM rating and quality. I went to many stores and online sites looking for the "right" hood. This hood has met all of my criteria and more. Outstanding product is all I can say. May 1, 2010
Windster Hood Worked perfect for my 9' ceiling. It probably wouldn't work for anything taller than that. The upper part of the hood comes in two pieces so that it can adjust to whatever height you need. It was fairly easy to connect the ductwork (standard 6" rigid hvac duct) and run it out of the side of my house. I had to install a louver with a screen where it terminated out the side wall. The wiring simply consisted of the power (black), common (white) and ground. The fan has 3 speeds and can really move some air. It is a little on the not-so-quiet side but not too bad considering the amound of air it moves. The lights are pretty cool - I just hope I never have to replace them because I would not know where to buy a bulb like that. Good value for the money. February 4, 2010

One of the reviewers mentions the lights not working, aren't the bulbs replaceable? I am considering this model for sure if I know the bulbs can be replaced when necessary.

The Windster RH-W30 does have replaceable bulbs. It takes a 20W max 12v JC-Type bulb.

What warranties are there on this product?

The Windster RH-W30 has a 1 year labor, 2 year parts warranty.

If a wall cap has a damper why can you not use the damper supplied with the range hood also

You will only need to use one damper where the air is being vented out. The air will push the damper open, then when there is not an air flow the damper will close. There is not need to use two dampers.

What is the type of steel used in the construction of this range hood?
