48" Wide x 28" High Hanging Fireplace Spark Screen without Hanging Rod
Just what I needed
I already had some nice glass doors on my fireplace but I grew tired of storing/setting up/moving a folding spark screen so I decided to replace that approach with this steel mesh curtain to simplify having/enjoying a fire. You need the curtain and the rod kit (Woodfield 61090). The rod kit is designed to allow leading edges of the two curtains to overlap otherwise i suppose you could just use one long rod. Anyway, I recall several reviews resulted from the product's complete lack of instructions on how to install the rod kit, It is true - there is nothing i could find anywhere - so this kit, particularly the rod kit is only suitable for someone with time, luck, miscellaneous thin piece of metal lying about, muscle to drill into masonry, lots of creativity and more luck. If luck goes your way perhaps you too will be able to jerry-rig the rod into place. It you can make it work, then it is a great curtain, if not the project/ experience will definitely be frustrating. I wish you luck. Also Build.com had the lowest price around for the curtain and rod (Woodfield Hanging Fireplace Spark Screen Rod Kit ). Bear in mind prior to purchase (mine March 2013) that there are no instructions, diagrams, and I did not find it obvious how it was intended to be installed so I made up my own system.
