Very difficult to install, Not venting well
I bought this one a couple of weeks ago. It's horrible in installation and almost not venting with my 31'' above the stove.
I wish i bought other one.

A good hood, but installation is a nightmare
The venting function is good, but it is so difficult to install it! The product only provides 4 flimsy screws to hold the hood in place. It requires a 4-to 6" long small head Philip screw driver (which not easy to get.) Even if you can install it with these 4 screws perfectly, it does not give you a warm and fussy feeling that it will not drop off while you have something cooking on the stove. I used 2 rear screws with 2" bolts to secure the hood with the kitchen cabinet above instead. In summary, the installation is a nightmare for me.

Powerful hood, nice feature
This is very powerful with 850CFM fan. And I like the delay off timer. Noise level is acceptable. However I do want to see the fan cover grate can fit better on it. The looking of this model maybe does not match the modern kitchen nowadays.

Zephyr Typhoon is great
Had this at our old house. Moved and installed basically the same model in another house. We do a lot of cooking on a regular basis. The baffle-less and filter less design is great for easy cleanup. But you have to keep up with it (clean it once every 1-2 weeks). Also decent amount of CPM for the price.
Highly recommended.

Powerful yet Quiet
We have this hood installed over a professional range, even when we fired up all the burners at max, this hood is capable of doing a great job of venting all smoke & odor. It is virtually silent when running on low speeds, with good extraction power. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Zephyr
I have a friend with the next higher unit. He loves it so I bought this Zephyr. It runs great since I installed it with no restrictions right through the roof above my kitchen. I'd rate it 5 stars if I didn't have to replace expensive bulbs often. Venting direct sent the halogen upgrade lamps but they don't have the same illumination of the standard lamps. It is a great unit and I've had it over a year.

Great Product
We've had the Zephyr model AK2100 for a little over a year and I love it! Was hesitant about the self cleaning feature but it is wonderful. Takes just a few minutes to take the cover off, spritz in some Fantastic and let it go. Very easy to keep clean. We had to install at the maximum height and it still very efficiently pulls the smoke and exhaust from both the oven and cooktop. Great lighting, although it seems like I am frequently replacing bulbs...but that could be the fault of the bulbs. Overall very happy with this range hood.

waste money, same as my $200 GE one
Thought it would be good fit for my kitchin after read so many good reviews. I am wrong.
Carefully installed.

This has 6 speeds. Can you tell me what the CFM is for each speed?
The Zephyr AK2100A has an even scaling on the CFM to each power level: (1) 142cfm / (2) 282cfm / (3) 425cfm / (4) 564cfm / (5) 709cfm / (6) 850cfm
Does the hood purchase include everything we need for installation? Or, do we need to buy a liner, clips, or any other pieces to have an up and running hood?
The Zephyr AK2100A comes with everything you need except for the actual duct work. Your installer will provide you with the ducting for your ventilation system.
Can I put a microwave above it?
The Zephyr AK2100A can be vented from the top or the rear. The rear vent utilizes a 3-1/4" x 10" duct. As long as venting through the rear of the hood with this type of ducting is possible, then yes, a microwave can be installed above this unit.
How does a self clean or auto clean range hood works, there were a lots of talk of these features, but not much information available explaining the technology.
Self cleaning ovens work very well. The oven is heated up to 950 degrees F. and that burns off the dirt and turns it to a gray ash that you wipe off with a damp cloth. The self clean cycle is usually a four hour process that slowly heats the oven taking almost an hour for it to get up to cleaning temperatures and the door latch locks so you cannot open the door once it reaches 550 degrees F. and it will remain locked until it cools to below that temperature at the end of the cycle or you abort the clean cycle for any reason. It can take a while for the latch to unlock so if you attempt to unlatch the door and the lever will not move do not force it just wait longer. Many newer ranges do not have door latch handles and latch and unlatch on their own.
Can this hood be converted to ductless?
Unfortunately, the Zephyr AK2100A cannot be converted to ductless.
Can the lights stay on if the fan is off?
Like other Zephyr products, the Zephyr AK2100A lights can stay on without the blower.
Does venting to the rear vs top have any effect on noise from the fan?
When venting these products, the direction is irrelevant to the sone level for your applications.
