30" Hurricane Under Cabinet Range Hood with 695 CFM Internal Blower and Automatic Self-Cleaning 4.3 5 15 16

Good product.... but.... I really like this item since it has great reviews and the cleaning feature was neat. A little more than we planned to spend, but seemed worth it. Got the first one installed. Defective touch switches on the front. Ventingdirect sent another one. "Thought" it was defective, but...... The fan speeds differ very little between II and I. You have to listen close to tell the difference and when you turn the fan off, the light goes off too. That seemed strange, so ventingdirect had me call Zephyr directly. The lady told me that the light does go off when you turn the fan off. That seems like a strange bit of engineering. I recommended it to her that they might want to put that in their manual. It still does not seem to work the way I anticipated, but it's too late now. The lowest fan speed is not the quietest in the world and that light thing is just dumb. Workmanship and the self cleaning fan blades are the only pluses here, but let me add that ventingdirect customer service it probably the best online that I have encountered. Probably would not choose this range hood again. September 22, 2011

Best Fan Ever before we had this fan , we had this old white thing that made more noise than it did anything (an this was in the spice kitchen) I'm indian so we cook a lot of stir fry and curry, but this fan works wonders you can't even tell that were cooking food, it's relatively quiet too at the different setting (perfect for making eggs in the morning etc.) awesome fan, my neighbors paid twice as much for a lower powered and high noise fan locally. I recommend buying from venting direct, it only took a week to reach the spot where i wanted it delivered. (i'm canadian so i just hopped over the border and picked it up , only paid 30$ duty not a big deal), I would call them and order the product much more personal awesome customer support. Totally pleased!!! After receiving the hood ,we discovered it was damaged in shipping. After talking to a real person right off the bat I was told (in a very humane and professional tone) that a product exchange would not be a problem. I just had to re-box the hood and place it on the stoop by the front door. The customer person said that she already had another hood placed in the system (yes, before the damaged one was even picked up!) and should have it delivered within the next week. The damaged one was picked up within two days and the replacement was on my door step within 5 days. I am so pleased to experience true customer service, I wish I had more occasions to purchase from this company!! The hood looks great with our new stove and most importantly it works great!! Bulb replacement IMPOSSIBLE I love this unit with the major exception that it is impossible to replace the bulbs, which went out within a few months of installation. I am going to have to call an electrician, no kidding. Unbelievable. February 12, 2011

good--loud!--hood Seems to work fairly well. Not easy to install according to the professional who did it. As others have noted, VERY loud, especially at high setting, but also not soft at lowest setting. Hood looks good, very complimentary with newly renovated kitchen. A good buy at its price. good range hood Price was great and install was relatively straightforward. It replaced an over the range microwave - no comparison in exhaust. We only use the zephyr on low and it works about 10x better than the microwave. Its good to know we have medium and high in reserve if we really need to air out the place. January 10, 2011

Flimsy controls ruin a decent hood Purchased this hood based on the Zephyr brand and reviews posted here. Received the unit and the controls did not work. Contacted Zephyr and had to have a service visit to replace the logic board that controls the fan/lights. When I saw the unit I realized the problem. The buttons that get depressed are very small and easily become stuck. That board was replaced and the hood worked great for 3 weeks. Now the light control does not respond! I have another call into Zephyr for yet another replacement board. As the warranty only goes for the first year, I am very nervous about what will happen at that point. Be very cautious about purchasing this hood and using the controls. May 22, 2010

Pleased But Difficult to Install We bought it to replace an underpowered microwave hood, partly because the smoke alarm would go off almost every time we used the oven. Now that it is up, it is great. Installation was tricky, though. The holes/screws that mount it to the underside of the cabinets are hard to get to and impractical to use while supporting the hood. We used longer bolts to extend down from the top with washers and wingnuts instead. Also, the rectangular vent outlet was off the wall too far so we needed to make duct adapters to make it fit our old vent location. Now that it's up - it works great. Powerful and not too loud. Awesome hood...awesome company This hood is wonderful. It has an amazing draw, even on the first setting! Smoke could actually go above the hood and in a matter of 3-5 seconds it would be sucked down and under the hood and out. The noise level is great as well. It's not very loud and the sound that is does make is very deep and not as annoying as cheaper hoods. Very stylish as well. I would reccomend this item over and over. My experiance with ventingdirect.com has been excellent too. The people are couteous and knowledgeable when I called, and they were prompt and kind with email. Shipping was fast too! Is horizontal duct out of the wall included?

The Zephyr AK2500 does not include any ducting.

How does it collect the grease and how is it cleaned?

During cooking, as the Zephyr AK2500 Range Hood is running, grease is pulled into the range through the vents into donut shaped pans and stored. To clean out the grease, spray cleaning solution such as 409 into the vents while the range is running. This will liquify the grease which runs into small grease trap cups located directly beneath the vents. These cups can then be emptied for simple disposal of grease. The cleaning process takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

Can you use the lights with the fan off?

The Zephyr AK2500 has lights that can be used without the fan being on.

How do you remove the grease trap cups?

The Zephyr AK2500 has trap cups held in by a retainer clip.

Is that too hard to install it by ourself?

The Zephyr AK2500 is a relatively easy unit to install.
