Great Upgrade! I've had an Imperial slide out hood for the past 19 years and decided to finally upgrade. My old hood didn't cover the entire stove surface when pulled out and only had a small 6 or 7 inch plastic fan, so when I cooked, I could usually smell what I cooked throughout the house. Also, the fan would get out of balance and be quite noisy. The new Zephyr fan is absolutely wonderful! It covers the entire stove surface, and is much quieter. I wondered what the "Quattro Vent" was all about. Well, it has the dual fans that suck up all the smell and smoke, and while you are standing by the stove, you get the benefit of a nice cool breeze that comes over the top of the hood so that you don't get so overheated while cooking! I like the timer feature as well. I have an electric stove, so when you've turned it off the burners stay hot for awhile. The timer feature allows you to leave the fan running for a set amount of time (you choose the amount) and turns it off automatically so you don't have to come back to do it yourself . The halogen lights are nice and bright so you can really see what you're doing. I wish I would have upgraded sooner! August 21, 2009

Excellent hood for home This hood exceeds our expectations. We are a house of cooks and this hood gives excellent ventilation and excellent lighting. We deep fry and blacken fish. And occasionally burn garlic bread. This hood takes care of them all. When on high and the windows closed, you have to pull harder on our entry doors to close them -- that means the fan is working pretty well! We haven't tried the self-cleaning function yet. Is the depth of AK2536 15 inch or 22 inch?

The Zephyr AK2536 total depth is 22" but the depth of the hood itself is 15". The extension measures 7".

What is the self cleaning function?

The Zephyr AK2536 will self clean by going into a high temperature setting that burns of the build up. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

What size exhaust pipe is recommended?

For the Zephyr AK2536 you could do a vertical exhaust with a 6" round or 3 1/4" x 10" duct or a horizontal exhaust with a 3 1/4" x 10" duct.

Is there a ductless option for this hood?

The Zephyr AK2536 does not have a recirculating option.

Does it have a built-in damper?
