Installing a recessed medicine cabinet is relatively easy. Once you find your studs and add extra support, you will be able to use your medicine cabinet for extra storage in no time.

Step by Step Instructions

Step 1

Find studs with a stud finder or by using other stud finding methods. Studs are anywhere from 12 to 24 inches apart.

Step 2

Cut out a cardboard template. This helps find the perfect placement for your medicine cabinet.

Step 3

Trace a template on the wall between studs. Make sure your template is level.

Step 4

Make an inspection hole in the drywall. This will ensure that you will not hit any obstructions, such as, plumbing or wiring.

Step 5

Cut out the hole. Use the drywall cutter to cut out the hole. Test to make sure the medicine cabinet fits.

Step 6

Add support by using 2 by 4’s. Cut them to the appropriate length and screw them in above and below the medicine cabinet for a framed fit.

Step 7

Make sure the cabinet is level and use the provided screws to securely mount the cabinet.

Step 8

Finish the installation by adding any other pieces like screw caps to the exposed screws.
