Timeless Design: Influencer Janice Burkhart
Good design never goes out of style, and a virtual makeover is the perfect way to preview a style update.
Janice Burkhart, founder of Burkhart Interiors LLC, may be based out of Dallas, Texas, but the world is her office and inspiration. She says travel is one of her biggest resets for creativity. “So many project details have come from travel!” she adds. Burkhart’s first “real” job was in New Orleans, which is known for its distinct architectural style, an aesthetic that she says still influences her to this day.
“The layers of good design never change. Style does.” says Burkhart.
Burkhart likes to get clients “out of their box.” She says this means earning a person’s trust which makes it easier to work together to come up with a design that stands the test of time. "I call it making friends.” she says. The goal with every project, of course, is to get it just right for the client so they end up with the space of their dreams. This means perfecting every detail.
Burkhart commented, “As an Interior Designer, I deal in luxury goods. I’m not saving lives, but I am improving them every day.”
True to her design roots, Burkhart’s signature style can be described as “modern romantic with a soft twist of French decor". It’s a style that leans heavily on inviting, neutral, soft colors with classic architectural features.
The Project
For this virtual bathroom update, Burkhart followed the advice she gives anyone starting a project: Make it yours. Stay away from the kitschy, or anything that’s “in the moment” because good design should be timeless.
She always starts with the plumbing. “it's not always the sexy part but you can learn a lot about client wishes and needs.”
This space needed a modern update, so Burkhart chose to mix metals and use a black bathtub as a statement piece.
The Process
Our in-house designers used products like the bathtub Burkhart chose from Build with Ferguson to give the bathroom a computer-generated imagery (CGI) makeover. This allowed Build with Ferguson designers to use computer-generated imagery to create a realistic representation of the space which is a great way to visualize and present concepts before actual implementation.
“What a dream! With help from the Build with Ferguson team that created the computer generated images, we sourced the fixtures, lighting, and accessories and they made magic with these gorgeous virtual images. Its the best way to envision how your bathroom will look!” said Burkhart.
Burkhart loved how the black tub complemented the touches of black in the lighting and mirrors and elsewhere throughout the space.
Build with Ferguson’s Service, Style & Selection
“Build with Ferguson is a one stop shop. The selections are extensive. The customer service is so good about answering install questions.” –Janice Burkhart
Burkhart also appreciates the wide range of brands available online combined with the Ferguson in-person shopping experience.
“I adore my sales team. I have been working with them for many, many years. Seriously, I remember when she was pregnant with her kids, and they are now so grown!” Burkhart laughs.
