French-Inspired Function: Influencer Paige Kontrafouris
Known for formal-yet-inviting spaces, an influencer’s bathroom gets a European-inspired virtual makeover.
Paige Kontrafouris is an interior designer, vintage shop owner, and lifestyle content creator based out of New Jersey. Inspired by classic European design and a love of antiques and vintage pieces, she built her social media following by sharing her personal design journey renovating her own home. Paige loves to share her passion for creating visually compelling interiors that tell a unique story.
Heavily influenced by the classics—French European design specifically—Kontrafouris believes that every space is elevated by vintage and antique pieces. She is known for "formal yet inviting spaces, layering rich colors and fabrics, ornate trim work, cozy and intimate spaces.”
“Before getting to any design elements for a new design, I like to start by breaking down the space according to how it needs to function for the people will be using it,” says Kontafouris. She analyzes the elements of the room and what it may require on a daily basis. She asks herself how she can make it comfortable, beautiful, as well as efficacious for the client. “Aesthetics can only take a space so far. For it to be a home run, it needs to function for the people it's meant for,” says Kontafouris.
The Project
Kontrafouris was about to start a bathroom renovation project and loved the idea of using computer-generated imagery (CGI) for a virtual makeover to see the full potential of the space before even swinging a hammer. The timing was perfect. CGI allowed designers to create a realistic representation of the space which is a great way to visualize and present concepts before actual implementation.
Kontrafouris loved having CGI images of how design elements might look in the space. “You don’t always have to take down walls and relocate plumbing and electrical to have an amazing before and after!” she said. The focus of this bathroom redesign was updates to plumbing, lighting, flooring, and wall treatments. Because the layout would stay the same, choosing products to replace the existing room elements was a straightforward process for Kontrafouris.
The Process
Kontrafouris submitted design inspiration with her unique style in mind and our in-house CGI designers used products she selected from Build with Ferguson to give the bathroom the French European-inspired look Kontafouris has become known for.
“I like to splurge on items that are forever elements for the foundation of a space, for example cabinetry or flooring... I always say if the foundation of a room is poorly constructed the designs won't work long term.” explains Kontrafouris.
