Gloribell Lebron’s Sophisticated Mediterranean Kitchen Design

The Project 

Lebron took on a complete kitchen renovation with the help of Computer Generated Imagery (CGI), taking the space from traditional and dated to modern and curated. This required a total kitchen transformation, incorporating high-end materials and finishes while maintaining the kitchen’s original layout.

The Problem 

The existing kitchen featured dark finishes and dated products with traditional elements, resulting in a kitchen that wasn’t modern or functional. Not only did the kitchen need a complete overhaul in style to transform it into a modern space, but it also needed improved storage solutions, modern appliances, and a seamless design that flowed with the square shape of the kitchen’s original layout.

The Goal/The Solution 

Lebron set out to create a space that was modern and sophisticated, with luxurious materials that brought a sense of elegance to the space. Her inspiration was that of Mediterranean kitchens, and the goal was to transform the bland and dated kitchen into what she describes as “an open, airy and functional kitchen with contemporary appeal.” 

The Process 

Lebron’s design process for this space, started by using our Project Tool to curate the items she wanted to feature in her new, Mediterranean-inspired design. From there, our designers helped her make a CGI rendering for a visual representation of her design that she could share with her client.

Using the Project Tool

In tandem with designing the kitchen with the help of CGI, Lebron used our Project Tool “to organize and visualize the design elements, ensuring that all aspects of the project aligned with the overall vision.” Lebron went on to explain that this tool “facilitated clear communication with clients by providing visual representations of the design.” She used it to simplify the creation of a portfolio and spec sheets. As you work on your own projects, this tool can help you create a mood board of the space so you can tell which products look best with one another.

Designing with CGI

After strategizing what type of space Lebron was creating, she enlisted the help of Build with Ferguson to create a CGI rendering of the new kitchen design. After choosing products in the Project Tool, our in-house designers used those products along with interior design software to create computer-generated imagery.

Lebron’s Curated Products

Lebron set out to update the traditional design with a more modern aesthetic while maintaining functionality, and she accomplished that goal with this kitchen design by choosing products that provided the look she wanted and the features she needed.

Lighting Design

This kitchen required lighting solutions that would enhance the ambiance in the space while providing the brightness needed for completing daily kitchen tasks. She did this by using a pair of pendant lights and two different styles of wall sconces.

The cabinetry was a custom-designed element of this kitchen, offering unique storage solutions tailored to the client’s needs. The key was to choose kitchen hardware that was easy to grip while complementing the look of the space.

Customization & Personalization

Tailoring a design to the client really comes down to the little customization and personalization details. In this space, Lebron chose to create a “custom kitchen island that emulates a dining table, featuring elegant legs and raised storage, which adds a distinctive character to the space.” Brass finishes throughout enhanced the antique look of some of the contemporary items. That final personal touch isn’t one you can see. Lebron used kitchen cabinet organization solutions throughout the room to help the client keep everything neat, tidy, and within reach.

A Focus on Sustainability

Sustainability and eco-friendly practices were a priority when selecting the products used in this kitchen. Energy-efficient appliances and LED lighting reduce energy consumption. By integrating thoughtful elements, Lebron creates a space that is not only stylish and function, but also mindful of its environmental impact.

The Outcome 

Lebron’s favorite element of the finished design is the marble countertops and backsplash. “They add a touch of opulence and sophistication, making the kitchen a standout feature in the home,” explains Lebron. She also used lighting fixtures to elevate the look of the space while still providing practical illumination.
