Cadet 3 Flushing:

  • 3” flush valve – The flush starts with a flushing system that employs a 3” valve opening, allowing water to enter the bowl at a much faster rate than the industry standard 2” flush valve. Controlled by a flapper that is engineered to be chemical-resistant, the Cadet flushing valve system is highly regarded for its durability.
  • 360 degree cleaning – Water entering the bowl does so in a sweeping 360-degree motion. This is designed to help completely clear the bowl, even while using less water.
  • Powerful siphoning water jet – A perfectly positioned water jet captures the circular flow of water for optimal performance with minimal energy loss (water doesn’t hit a flat spot and slow down). As waste and water exit, they are siphoned into the trapway for an unmatched push/pull one-two punch.
  • 2-1/8” fully glazed trapway – Waste and water exit the toilet through a trapway that is fully glazed, which seals it and provides for a smooth surface that waste can in no way cling to. The 2-1/8” diameter chute, while slightly narrower than the American Standard Champion flushing system’s 2-3/8” trapway, can still flush up to 150 feet of toilet paper without clogging. Not that you’ll ever use that much.

Other Technologies / Benefits:

  • Concealed Trapway – Concealed trapways make a remarkable difference in the pose of a toilet. By covering the waste chute, they streamline the appearance for a look that fits well in both traditional and modern bathrooms. They also serve the functional purpose of eliminating resting spots for hair and dust. Included on the sides are ports (with color-matched caps) to allow access to the floor bolts.
  • Everclean Surface – Using the antimicrobial properties of silver (the precious metal), Everclean Surfaces inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold, and mildew. The super smooth, baked-in, mirror-like surface not only eliminates unsightly rings, but also helps repel toilet messes.
  • PowerWash Rim – During each flush, a measured amount of water travels within an inner-rim channel to be evenly dispersed throughout the bowl. PowerWash rims are surprisingly good at completely clearing out the bowl after each use.
  • Right Height – Right Height bowls lift the sitting-height an additional 1.5 inches off the ground for a more comfortable seated position that is easier to get in and out of. This feature is particularly well liked by men, taller women, and the elderly.

American Standard 2988.101 Reviews

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rated Top Pick by Consumer Reports, and I agree... First, one need not remove the toilet to remove/adjust the seat. Just lift lid and seat, press silver button on seat bottom, and lift the assembly off of the mounting posts. Then, lift off the round dressing covers and the allen head bolts are accessible. When done just lower the seat assembly onto the posts until you hear the click. Our two toilets came with flange access hole covers. We bought our toilets in November 2012. Maybe things were different on earlier production units. This model works simply fantastic. Only 1.26GPF, excellent flush, exceptional clean design, and easy to clean. The porcelain finish is specialized to reduce germs and the need for cleaning. No-tool installation went perfectly. All in all very nice toilets. I'm a homeowner and not a pro.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very unhappy First of all, Faucet Direct is wonderful. I'm remodeling a bathroom and have purchased a lot of products from them. They are wonderful to work with. The toilet is not wonderful. If you look at the photo, it looks as if there is cap or plug that covers the hole needed to install the toilet. the toilet has a gaping hole on either side of the base. When I called American Standard, they said it did not come with any cap or plug. It sure looks like there is one in the picture. The other disappointment is that the toilet seat is very loose. My contractor has tightened it as much as possible and it still is unstable. Other than that, it is a nice toilet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Size specification was important to us.... Wanted to mention that one of the main reasons we bought these toilets was that we were adding a wainscot of travertine to the wall behind the toilet. The travertine adds 1/2" of thickness to the wall directly behind the toilet. Our old toilets had, respectively, 1/4" from back of tank to the wall and the other, 0" to the wall. Since we were about to add another 1/2" of travertine we looked for a toilet that we liked and had a more compact measurement from the center of the toilet flange bolts to the back of the toilet tank. This model was 5/8" more compact than our old toilets on that measurement. Result, we added the 1/2" of travertine on the wainscot, both toilets installed just fine, and we avoided costly moving of the floor plumbing or modifying the wall behind the toilets. I know our situation was not the norm but there are probably other users who might want to tile the wall behind the toilet and face the same conflict we had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from beautiful tiolet This purchase finished our half bath remodel. It was the icing on the cake. The profile is so sleek and clean. The flush is awesome. We have five toilets in our home and would love to replace the other four with this high performance model. Dealing with faucet direct was also easy and convenient. When the toilet was first delivered the kind delivery man offered to move the boxes into the house for me. When he picked up the box holding the tank, the bottom fell out and the tank landed in pieces on the front porch. We were both shocked and found that there was so little glue holding the box bottom together that it was an accident waiting to happen. No one was at fault except the manufacturer. Faucet Direct took care of the problem with ease and new one was delivered within a week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic buy! We love it! it's so compact and narrow and easy to wipe down since it is skirted. Have been using it for about 3 months now with no issues. The toilet uses tiny amount of water but I've never had to flush twice!
