Delta R10000-UNBX Reviews

Repeat Purchase of ValveOriginally purchased two of the Delta valves for shower/tub combo. Liked the function of this valve and its mating faucets with individual temperature and flow rate controls that I ordered another to update the master walk in shower with similar shower head. Function is far superior to original Moen installation.

Replacing Rough Valve in old wallThe product was fine, and the final result was good. I was replacing a 70-year old shower valve that was leaking, motivated by a desire to upgrade to a modern cartridge type. I wish I had paid more attention to physical dimensions of the new valve. With the (well-built) thickness of my existing plaster/tile wall, the valve wouldn't protrude far enough into the shower side of the wall. With a lot of chiseling of concrete, I finally got the job done. If such a longer-throat valve exists, it would have made the job a lot easier. If you have an older, thicker wall, look for such a valve.

Good but not all thereTo keep it simple, make sure you by the version with the shotoff valve unless you can install the control of the shower as this piece doesn't have the ability to stop the water without it! Once the shower compnent was added this worked like a champ, but took a few frustrating moments of reading and re-reading the installation instructions to discover that it never talked about how to shutoff the water when it's turned on to re=pressurize your lines. - YOU NEED the shower controls or the other style that has the valve in it!

works great. This value allows you to set the hot/cold mixture of the water and leave it set so the next time you turn on the shower, you don't have to mess with getting the right temperature. One caution though. You must install it with copper pipe. Plastic pipe can cause the shower to drip alot when you turn on the top spout. Follow all the directions for installation.

Easy Installation, Great PriceWe purchased this valve for a bathroom remodel. We bought a Delta shower/tub kit and needed the rough-in valve, it cost way more everywhere else I looked. It was easy to install and works perfectly. Our old one would not fit the newer tub diverter we purchase and this was the right choice. The price was better than anything else I found online or in stores locally.

Good product, better supplierThe Delta valve and cover are certainly acceptably good products, though the instructions for setting the water temperature are both poorly written and hidden in an arcanely designed PDF file (not at all available in the written matter with packaged with the product). That is, you have to go online to Delta and search for the proper product insturctions and then ... good luck.

Valve bodyNo plastic here! Brass all the way and the scall-guard works perfectly. Installation was not a problem at all.

Solid ProductDelta has been a leader in quality products for decades. As usual, this is another one. Instructions are good for the Do-It-Yourself crowd. The main reason I purchased this product was its ability to give me adjustments for both water temperature and the force of the shower stream. Many valve bodies today do not allow both.
do I need this for the Delta rain showerhead or is this for a tub faucet
A. This is the rough in valve for a tub and/or shower. This is what controls the water flow (on/off/temp)to your system whether it is to a shower head or tub spout. You need valve trim that attaches on the outside of the wall to this rough in valve.
Is there anywhere that is open on Sunday tomorrow and I can pick it up since I need it tomorrow?
A. We are only an online company that doesn't have any stores to pick up from.
What trims are available for this valve body?
A. The Delta R10000-UNBX is the rough in valve for almost all Delta shower trims. There are very few Delta trims that do not work with this valve.
whats' the difference between R10000-UNBX and R10000-IP?
A. The difference between the Delta R10000-UNBX and the R10000-Ip is the connection type. One Sweats onto 1/2" C.W.T. and the other threads onto 1/2 IPS.
Is this valve compatable with the Brizo shower trims?
A. Unfortunately, no. This is not compatible with Brizo.
what is the difference between the Delta R10000-UNBX and the Delta R10000 IPWS
A. The Delta R10000-UNBX has externally threaded ports and the R10000-IPWS has internal threading.
What is the flow rate, at 40PSI, of this valve?
A. The Delta R10000-UNBX has a flow rate of about 8.0 GPM.
Why do I need the R10000-UNBX and also the R11000 diverter rough-in? What is the function of each?
A. The Delta R10000-UNBX is a standard shower valve. You will use the R11000 if you plan to divert the water to another source (i.e. handheld unit, etc.).
Will R10000-UNBX valve work with T17255 trim?
A. Yes, the Delta T17255 is compatible with the Delta R10000-UNBX.
Can I use this valve body with a Moen fixture? It appears identical.
A. No, valves & trim are very manufacturer specific & will not work with the trim or valve of another manufacturer. You will have to get a Moen valve if you'd like to install Moen fixtures.
What is the difference between the Delta R10000-UNBX and the Delta R10000-UN?
A. Functionally there is no difference in the two models. The BX indicates a single box model.
What is the difference between the R10000-UNBX and R10000-UNWS? I'm planning to purchase the T17T055-RB shower control.
A. The Delta R10000-UNBX 1/2 Inch Rough-In is the same as the R10000-UNWS 1/2 Inch Rough-In, but the latter of the two has a service stop at the valve. This means that if you had a leak or if you were servicing another fixture in the bathroom, you could just turn off the bath/shower and still have the function of the sink and toilet or whatever other fixtures you have. With other valves, you would have to turn off the main water supply. If you need to shut off water to the valve, you just remove the handle and there is a flat-head screw to turn.
Will this connect directly to 1/2 cpvc using solvent, not requiring any adapters?
A. The Delta R10000-UNBX will connect to 1/2" supply with out any adapter. If you look at the installation guide under the product details it will go through the full process for installation. Let me know if you have any other questions.
Is this pressure balanced
A. The Delta R10000-UNBX is not pressure balanced but it does work with thermostatic trims.
Is this valve low lead compliant?
A. No, the Delta R10000-UNBX is not low-lead compliant.
Will water flow first to the tub spout below this valve and then up to the shower when the tub spout diverter is closed?
A. Yes that is correct it will go to a tub spout first.
