It happens every spring. The weather starts to warm up and we inevitably begin to think about how to keep cool in the summer heat. Constantly running an air conditioner isn’t exactly inexpensive, and sometimes the weather isn't hot enough for air conditioning — all you need is a breeze. In summertime we all enjoy the gentle breeze a ceiling fan can provide, and the cost is minimal.

So, we’ve established that ceiling fans are efficient, but that’s just one of the reasons why we’re obsessed with Hinkley ceiling fans. They also blow us away with their style, technology, and versatility.

This is the first time Hinkley has carried ceiling fans and they’ve gotten it right on the first try. They’ve got fans for every decor style and every space...including outdoors! Let’s dig in!

Efficiency in Every Season

Nothing is worse than stale, stagnant air no matter what time of year it is. While fans don’t actually cool the air, they create air movement, which speeds the evaporation of moisture from the skin, cooling those in the space. In fact, in winter, ceiling fans help keep heating costs down by redirecting warm air (which has a tendency to rise) down toward you and your family.

Indoor

If you’ve shopped indoor ceiling fans before, you know quality, style, and features can differ widely. There are fans with longer downrods for vaulted ceilings and hugger fans for low ceilings. Blade span, too, can differ, as well as blade color. Some fans come equipped with lighting, others do not, but some are often easily modified with ready-to-install light kits. When shopping for a ceiling fan, consider the size of your space, the height of your ceiling, and whether or not you’d like to fan to provide light as well as air circulation.

Indoor fans have a dry location rating, which means they should be placed only in spaces in which they won’t be exposed to moisture. They also have a cubic feet per minute or CFM measurement, which measures how much air the fan moves at its highest speed.

Style

Now for the fun part. While all of the previous features are important, your ceiling fan has got to be aesthetically pleasing for you to be truly happy with the finished look. Hinkley has styles from traditional to transitional to modern. A ceiling fan can add an interesting design element to a space without overwhelming it. Choose fan blades in a shade that matches the other wood finishes in the room. We love that Hinkley also offers a variety of hardware to complement decor. For a balanced look, be sure to choose a fan that is neither too large, nor too small, for the space.

Outdoor

The main differences between indoor and outdoor fans is that outdoor fans come equipped with stronger motors to distribute air in open space, they are constructed of special materials to withstand the elements outdoors, and have a damp- or wet-location rating. When shopping for an outdoor ceiling fan, consider the size of the open space in which you’re trying to circulate the air, and decide on the CFM and blade span accordingly.

Style

Hinkley’s selection of outdoor ceiling fans is phenomenal. Many have lights to help illuminate your outdoor space, as well. Choose from traditional, coastal, modern, transitional, and more. We love how a ceiling fan adds unexpected character to an outdoor space, drawing it together under a central point, in addition to its other benefits. There are many shades and finishes to choose from here as well, but we suggest trying to complement existing decor as well as other landscape features.

Technology

Did we forget to mention that every Hinkley ceiling fan has a WiFi / smart home option? Just another amazing thing about these fans that we’re obsessed with! Depending on the collection, your Hinkley fan might have settings to control fan speed, lighting, and set on/off timers.
